Dear friends! Only a few more weeks remain to sign up for the Folkie Sing-Song Session at Club Passim School of Music. Last semester was a true delight and we are soooo excited to host this exploratory space again.
We had so much fun sharing songs, talking about music/musical and vocal influences, sharing and learning our favorite folk singalong songs, and exploring different folk vocal traditions… We even brought our last class out to a session in Boston as a celebration of our learning. We’d be so delighted if you shared this class with your network to get the word out to a wider net of folks!
If you have any questions, feel free to let me know by responding to this email! Course info below:
Discover the exciting world of folk song sessions! Join your hosts, Adam Hendey and Erin Hogan—every week we’ll gather together and share our favorite songs from a variety of folk traditions, new and old.
Some core concepts the class will focus on include: developing accessible song repertoire, learning how to teach new songs to groups, finding the right key for your voice, identifying suitable material for group singing, and more. Our mission is to create a safe, friendly space for listening and singing, empowering students to lead the class in at least one song by the end of the term.
As the semester progresses, our shared class repertoire will grow, and we may even take a field trip to a local pub to host our own song session in the wild!
